We kindly ask you to make your own way to Velden. There will be a pick-up service from Velden train station.

The nearest larger towns to Velden are Villach and Klagenfurt. There are regular local train connections from Villach and Klagenfurt to Velden; the journey takes 15-25 minutes.

CAR: There is plenty of parking available on site.

COACH: For many airports in Central Europe, coach connections are a good alternative to taking the train. For example, the operator FLIXBUS offers coach connections to Klagenfurt or Villach, both of which are only a short (15-25 minutes) train journey from Velden.

TRAIN: Austria’s national rail provider is OEBB (OEBB Trip Planner) but on the main line Vienna-Linz-Salzburg-Munich, there is also a private operator called WESTBAHN. Please note that OEBB tickets are not valid on WESTBAHN trains, and vice versa.

From all the airports listed below, there are public connections to Villach or Klagenfurt and on to Velden.

VIENNA (Austria, ca. 320km): Vienna International Airport offers connections around the world. Vienna Airport has a train station with good connections to all cities in Austria. There is also a coach connection from Vienna (not Vienna Airport though) to Klagenfurt which takes 4h.

SALZBURG (Austria, ca. 200km): Salzburg ‘W.A. Mozart’ Airport is a smaller airport but as a tourist hotspot it has still got good connections to other European cities. From Salzburg, you can get to Velden by train (direct) in less than 3 hours.

GRAZ (Austria, ca. 150km): Graz Airport is one of Austria’s smaller airports and offers connections to various European cities. From Graz, you can take a direct train (2h) to Klagenfurt.

KLAGENFURT (Austria, ca. 30km): Klagenfurt Airport is the closest airport to the conference site but it is a very small airport and is currently (December 2022) mostly served by Austrian Airlines (to/from Vienna). However, it also offers a Ryanair connection to London Stansted and a Eurowings connection to Cologne.

MUNICH (Germany, ca. 370km): Munich International Airport offers connections around the world. From Munich airport, you can reach Velden by train within 5-6 hours. There is also a coach connection to Villach.

VENICE (Italy, ca. 250km): Venice ‘Marco Polo’ Airport can be a good option too and has direct coach connections (3-4h) to Klagenfurt and Villach.

ZAGREB (Croatia, ca. 250km): ‘Franjo Tuđman’ Airport Zagreb is Croatia’s biggest airport. The train to Villach takes about 4 hours, the coach to Villach takes just under 5 hours.

LJUBLJANA (Slovenia, ca. 80km): Neighbouring Slovenia’s biggest airport Ljubljana ‘Jože Pučnik’ Airport has got good connections to various European cities. There are great train and coach connections to Villach (less than 2 hours).
